Career Spotlight – Monthly Series

Welcome to our new monthly CAREER SPOTLIGHT Feature, where we will be doing a mini interview with a new professional, showcasing what they do each month to share insight to the different types of jobs and careers available.

One thing I have always loved about working in my field, is learning about what people actual do in the day-to-day of their job. I often hear of jobs that I never even knew existed. We as a team find it so interesting gaining insight and perspective on the different professions and we want to share that with you.

First up, we have our very own team member… HANNAH.

We asked Hannah these 3 questions,

1. Can you tell me a bit about what you do?

2 What made you choose this career path

3 What do you love most about your job?

And here’s what she had to say:

-1. Can you tell me a bit about what you do?

I have a diverse background that mostly centres around recruitment and the disability/community services sector. Currently, I wear multiple hats and work across 3 totally different roles. I work as a Disability Assessor to enhance employment participation by people living with a disability and assist them in maintaining employment. Secondly, I work with at-risk youth to deliver personal development and employment workshops and finally, (my favourite one) I work with Sally Watson where I work with clients to develop stand out rĂ©sumĂ©s and cover letters as well as provide career guidance to help clients build confidence and determine their next career move. Oh and I’m also a mum to a beautiful 18-month-old boy Nash ( actually that’s my favourite job 😉 )

2 What made you choose this career path?

I have always enjoyed empowering people to seek out their potential and strive to be better. Whether that was when I was a store manager at the ripe old age of 17 delivering customer service training, or working as an employment consultant assisting participants with disabilities to overcome barriers and find work, it has always been the driving force throughout my employment life. Over the past 5 years or so I have lost track of the number of friends and family I assisted to apply for employment or draft selection criteria for and when I saw the job with Sally advertised, I jumped at it! I knew it would allow me to work in an area I am passionate about, but also operate from home and spend as many moments with my son as possible.

3 What do you love most about your job?

I absolutely love helping clients to uncover things about themselves they weren’t aware of, like realising their value, and the amazing skills they have. I really enjoy taking a resume, and the whole process of turning it into something that really reflects the qualities in our clients, properly showcasing their abilities. And there is no better feeling than when a client emails me to tell me they have been successful in gaining an interview.
